The request of the Regional University Hospital of Brest
The Brest Regional University Hospital covers a territory with a population of 1.2 million inhabitants. The CHRU has 2,542 beds and places spread over 7 sites (hospitals and residences). Providing individualized care is one of the priorities of the CHRU, which was the first in France to set up an ethics area.
To be more responsive to their needs, the CHRU was keen to develop outpatient care, particularly in medicine, surgery, psychiatry and follow-up care. Patients would thus benefit from consultations with specialists and all necessary examinations in a single day, a real technical feat. It is in this context that Sweepin has set up indoor guidance in the Cavale Blanche Hospital thanks to the Geopital mobile application.
Geopital, the guidance solution from Sweepin
The mobile application offers 2 functionalities for a better patient journey: GPS guidance from home to the hospital and IPS guidance (indoor geolocation) within the establishment, to facilitate the search for a service and optimize time on site.
Outside, the application provides traditional GPS routing to the building.
Onsite, indoors, holders provide QR codes that users can scan from the mobile app. Once scanned, these QR codes provide users with their starting location and allow them to select their destination from a list. Two guidance modes are then available:
- Advanced mode guidance, with the e-compass guiding the user step by step in real time,
- Assisted mode guidance, with speed controllable by the user who then follows the instructions on the screen.
Thanks to IPS (indoor geolocation), this indoor guidance system allows patients and visitors to be guided to their appointments thanks to an optimized route through the hospital. To do this, patients simply go to the Cavale Blanche website and enter their current position and the location of their appointment in the hospital. An itinerary will then be generated and proposed.
The advantages of Geopital
Geopital optimizes the patient’s journey, providing them with a digital tool that allows them to come for a consultation quickly and with complete peace of mind. It greatly simplifies the arrival and orientation of patients and their companions in the hospital and reduces their time spent on site. The advantage of this solution is that it does not require any network, the guidance is done offline in the establishments that are equipped with it. It is the phone’s sensors that allow the application to find the user’s position and follow him/her throughout the indoor journey. This technology is patented by Sweepin.
The medical and positional data of the users are obviously not stored to guarantee their security.
